Centenary Fields
This is our next-door neighbour, adjoining us to the west. Lingfield Parish Council bought the fields in 1995 and has turned them into an attractive reserve, with a wide range of habitats and features. Lingfield Forge, a local variety of apple formerly thought lost, is being grown in the Community Orchard, along with pear, quince. medlar and walnut.
The reserve is 10.5 acres (4.3 hectares) in size and, like Lingfield Wildlife Area, is designed for easy access by all. There's a map of it here. The Butterfly Garden is intended especially for blind and partly-sighted visitors.
There is a tree trail around the reserve and Lingfield Wildlife Area. See here for details.
In March 2003, Lingfield Parish Council put the upkeep of the reserve (except for the allotments) in the hands of the Lingfield Wildlife Area management committee. We all look forward to a productive and enjoyable partnership.
