This is a modified version of the location map from the Lingfield Wildlife Area brochure. Directions on how to get to the reserves appear lower down the page.

The Vicarage Road entrance is at Ordnance Survey map reference TQ387439. The nearest postcode is RH7 6HA.

For a variable-scale map of the locality, go to the Streetmap service.
How to get to the reserve
By train
Lingfield is on the East Grinstead line from London. There are direct trains from Victoria throughout the day, and connecting trains from London Bridge. The service from Victoria leaves at 23 minutes and 53 minutes past the hour. The return service from East Grinstead is at 8 minutes and 38 minutes past the hour. (Here is the Network Rail online timetable service.)

Once at Lingfield station, walk straight out of the entrance until you reach Station Road. Cross this and go down the footpath opposite, by the high stone wall. This soon brings you out on to Church Road. Turn sharp right and go to on the crossroads.

Turn left there, into Vicarage Road. After about seventy yards (passing College Close and the school on your left), you will see a postbox where the road goes sharply left. That point is between the main entrances to the two reserves.

By car or motorcycle
These Web pages from the RAC and AA each give you a print out of your route, once you have entered the details. They can be busy sites, so you may have to wait a while for the result.

From the North The easiest landmark to use is junction 6 of the M25. Go south from there down the A22, crossing the A25. Continue for about six miles, through South Godstone and Blindley Heath, until you get to the roundabout at Newchapel (watch for the blue-green spire of the Mormon Temple).

Turn left on to the B2028 (Newchapel Road) towards Lingfield. Continue for about a mile and a half until you reach Lingfield. Turn right at the roundabout by the filling station, into Plaistow Road. Then turn left almost immediately, before the next roundabout, into a road signposted "Library".

You are now in Vicarage Road, which is narrow with blind curves. After two hundred yards, it turns sharply right, where you will see a postbox on the nearside. Either side of that are is entrances to the reserves. You can park further up on the right or, if arranged beforehand, in the school car park.

From the West From junction 10 of the M23, take the road leading east to the A264 (Copthorne). After a mile and a half on the A264, turn left at the next roundabout. This is the B2028, to Newchapel and Lingfield.

After about three miles, you will come to the junction with the A22 at Newchapel (the Mormon Temple will be on your right). Cross straight over the roundabout, then proceed as directed in the latter part of the "From the North" section.

From the South From East Grinstead or points south, go north up the A22 until you reach the roundabout at Newchapel (the Mormon Temple will be on your left). Turn right on to the B2028, to Lingfield, then proceed as directed in the latter part of the directions in "From the North".

From the East Simplest is to head west along the A25 or M25 until you reach the junction with the A22 (junction 6 of the M25). Turn south on to it and proceed as in the "From the North" section.

Alternatively, drive to Edenbridge. From the High Street, turn into Lingfield Road (almost opposite the public library). Follow the road for about three miles, through Haxted, until you reach the staggered crossroads with Crowhurst Road. Turn left and, after a quarter of a mile, take the right fork into Saxbys Lane.

Go past the fire station and police station. Turn right at the crossroads, into Vicarage Road (signposted Library). After about seventy yards (passing College Close and the school on your left), you will see a postbox where the road goes sharply left. That point is the entrance to the reserves.

Parking
We have no parking spaces of our own. The nearest parking is in Vicarage Road. There are some spaces outside the school, to its north, which are normally empty during the day. If you are thinking of parking there, it makes sense to miss the school start and finish times, otherwise you'll be caught up in the turmoil of the school run.
