The Tree Book
|
|
We published this book in July 2005. It is a supplement to and expansion of the leaflet for our tree trail. It is designed to answer the kind of questions that occur to people as they walk around the trail or afterwards.
The book is aimed mainly at adults and older children. Parents, teachers and group leaders will find it especially useful. There is an appendix containing suggestions on linking the material to National Curriculum topics for Key Stages 1 and 2.
It is 36 A4 pages in size, illustrated throughout and with a soft cover. John Cole and his colleagues at Eden River Press have printed it to their usual high standards.
The book is available at Lingfield Community Centre and other places in and around Lingfield at a cost of £2.00 a copy. Alternatively, you can have it sent to you at a cost of £2.60 a copy (including postage and packing). Please send a cheque or postal order for that amount to Joy Matthews. (If you need a receipt, please say so.)

Commendations
"Thank you for sending me a copy of this excellent publication. I have now had a chance to look through it and it really is well put together, informative without being over-formal."
Matthew Larkin - Surrey & IoW team, Rural Development Service, Defra
"The tree book is written in such a an easy-to-read style that anyone will enjoy learning more about trees. I especially like all the examples and little stories and will add them to my collection of snippets, as they make a walk so much more entertaining and people love them. The book contains all aspects of trees and explains them in easy-to-understand language, especially the ever-so-difficult issue of Latin names!"
Meike Weiser, Community Partnership Officer, Nature Conservation Section, Croydon Council
