Plants not to put in a wild pond
The plants in the list here are invasive species, which we do not allow to be planted or introduced. In a larger pond, native plants such as Pendulous Sedge and Bogbean would do no harm if kept in check but ours is too small to accommodate them, attractive as they are. Alien species like Canadian Pondweed and Australian Pygmyweed are a nuisance everywhere.
The list is derived from our internal guidance documents and from The Pond Book. There is a general list of invasive species of plants and animals here, on the Web site of The Wildlife Trusts' Water Policy Team.

We ask anyone wishing to donate any plant material to check with a knowledgeable committee member for clarification. Only if we are certain as to the identification and origin of a plant do we accept it. The same is true for dry land plants.
See Link for a list of what we do allow.
